Longhorn Partners in Education exists to give business, civic, and faith-based organizations the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of Cedar Hill ISD scholars and staff. Partners, from small organizations to major corporations, contribute to the success of CHISD by sharing expertise and resources with one or more schools or with the district as a whole.

Longhorn Partners in Education is NOT only about the dollars, but ways our community can support CHISD by providing their time, talent and treasure! When a business decides to partner with a school, they make a commitment to invest time and people resources.

The quality of a community is defined by the strength of it's public schools. While the most important "stakeholders" in Cedar Hill ISD are scholars; area businesses, organizations and groups are significantly impacted by the success of our schools.

DISTRICT PARTNERSHIPS

Holdsworth Center Partnership

Seven of Cedar Hill Independent School District’s 12 schools are currently participating in The Holdsworth Center Campus Leadership Program. The Holdsworth Center is an Austin-based education leadership development center focused on improving Texas public schools for Texas scholars. It was founded as a charitable endeavor by H-E-B Grocery Founder Charles E. Butt. In 2021, Cedar Hill ISD was one of just three ISDs in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex to be selected for the Holdsworth Program, which is a five year program. While much of the program focuses on district-level administration, there is a component for campuses. Principals must apply for the two-year Holdsworth Campus Program.

Tarleton State University

CHISD joined the Distinguished High School Partnership Program with Tarleton, which is part of the Texas A&M University System accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Scholars who graduate within the Top 25 percent of Cedar Hill High School or Cedar Hill Collegiate High School will earn automatic acceptance to Tarleton State. Those scholars will not have to submit ACT or SAT scores for admission, nor will they have to pay the admissions application fee. CHISD graduates who qualify for Tarleton’s Guaranteed Award Program (GAP) will receive an award guarantee $1,000 above the GAP level for which they qualify, if the scholar is in the top 10 percent of their class, or $500, if they are in the top 25 percent.

Texas A&M - Commerce

The partnership between Cedar Hill ISD (CHISD) and Texas A&M Commerce  (TAMUC) provides scholarship opportunities for all staff who wish to pursue a degree, teaching, STEM, and Dual Credit certifications through the university.  The purpose of this partnership is to help develop, grow, and retain highly qualified staff for the benefit of  CHISD scholars. All staff who apply and are accepted to TAMUC will be eligible for various scholarships.
