Collegiate Academy Sixth Graders Enjoy STEM Experience at Dallas College
Sixty-four Collegiate Academy Middle School Sixth Graders had an opportunity to visit Dallas College-Cedar Valley for a STEM experience engineered by Dallas College-CV President Dr. Joe Seabrooks.
“There is no better feeling than to witness young people experience the thrill and joy that can only be created through the natural sciences,” Seabrooks said. “Our future scientists had the opportunity to participate in biology, physics and chemistry experiments.”
The Collegiate Academy Sixth Graders, if they continue through the Collegiate Pathway, will attend classes at Cedar Valley when they are juniors and seniors in 2028 and 2029.
They had an opportunity to learn from Collegiate High Teacher/Dallas College Professor Archana Tiwari – a finalist for CHISD STEM Teacher of the Year.
Collegiate Academy Middle School Principal John Edmun was grateful that the sixth graders received this opportunity.
“This was an outstanding experience,” Edmun said “I hope to have more in our partnership.”
Collegiate Parent Jamila Thomas was also glad that the STEM event happened.
“I am so grateful for Principal Edmun and Dr. Joe Seabrooks,” Thomas said. “Their heart for children and commitment to the educational advancement of children should be celebrated now and often. We need more educators like them.”
