Ward Pleased With Cedar Hill Spring Drills
The weather postponed the Cedar Hill High School Football Team’s Spring Game from Friday night to Saturday morning.
But other than Mother Nature’s brief interference, Longhorns first-year head coach Nick Ward was pleased with the game itself, and Spring Drills as a whole.
“It was productive, and it gave the kids a chance to see how the coaches are going to coach,” Ward said. “Coaches were able to get a true evaluation for what the kids can do.”
As for the game itself, Ward was pleased with the fact it was organized and the Longhorns avoided penalties and undisciplined plays, for the most.
“Senior quarterback Anthony Edwards got better in the spring, and he’s a little more confident,” Ward said. “Zhaiylen Scott and Alex Rogers played well. Our offensive line is young – mostly rising juniors – but they’re a bright spot.”
The program’s next step is summer workouts, which will begin on May 30 – after a 10-day break.
The Longhorns will open the 2023 season by hosting Rockwall on August 25 at Longhorn Stadium.
