Collegiate Prep, Lake Ridge Designated National PTA School of Excellence

Collegiate Prep and Lake Ridge elementary campuses were designated National PTA Schools of Excellence for 2020-2022.

National PTA is made up of millions of families, scholars, teachers, administrators, as well as business and community leaders.

National PTA School of Excellence is a recognition program that supports and celebrates the partnerships between PTAs and campuses to enhance the educational experience and well-being of all scholars.

Campuses that enroll in the program are committing to identifying and implementing an action plan for Family-School Partnerships and Transformative Family Engagement.

The campuses that receive the honor will be eligible to receive a $2,000 grant for their school.

Last semester, the Collegiate Prep PTA successfully applied for a $1,000 STEM Grant, and it was featured on NBC 5’s “Carter In The Classroom” with Wayne Carter.

“Collegiate Prep PTA is excited for both our campus and Lake Ridge for earning this designation,” Collegiate Prep PTA President Rhonda Black said.

Collegiate Prep Principal Dr. Xavier Lewis is new to the Collegiate Prep campus, but he’s already impressed with the PTA’s commitment.

“Our PTA Executive Board stays in consistent and constant communication with me, and the partnership we have has helped to make our campus succeed,” Lewis said.

Last semester, Lake Ridge Art Scholars participated in the PTA Reflections program at the state level.

“Lake Ridge has been blessed to have a strong PTA over the past years, and being named a National PTA School of Excellence attests to the commitment of all stakeholders working together,” Lake Ridge Principal Marquita McCullum said. “We look forward to continuing this tradition of excellence under the leadership of Lakeisha Jones, our new PTA President.”

Jones is a Kindergarten Teacher and a parent at Lake Ridge.

“The Lake Ridge PTA is excited to receive the National PTA Honor,” Jones said. “The Lake Ridge Elementary PTA is an all inclusive organization that strives to make a positive impact for our campus and the community.”
