Rabon Makes History With Cedar Hill ISD Police Department

Lolita Rabon was sworn in as an officer with the Cedar Hill Independent School District Police Department (CHISDPD) last week.

Rabon has 10 years of law enforcement experience – a career she chose after working in customer service at a dental office and assistant manager at a movie theater.

“I wanted a career more rewarding and exciting,” Rabon said. “I wanted to provide the public with more than just customer service. I wanted to show them how much I care for their well-being and safety.”

Rabon made history as the first female Hispanic/Pacific Islander to join the department as an officer.

“It is an honor and privilege to be the first Hispanic/Pacific Islander officer to join CHISDPD,” Rabon said. “I hope to promote cultural diversity within the police department.”

CHISDPD Chief James Hawthorne administered the swearing-in, CHISDPD Lieutenant Carlos Below pinned Rabon’s badge, and CHISD Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Dr. Violet Dean administered the Oath of Office.

“Officer Rabon is already making an impact with her thirst for knowledge and eagerness to learn,” Hawthorne said. “Her bilingual abilities make her an important asset to our ability to reach all segments of the population.”

Rabon was born in the Rio Grande Valley and grew up in Dallas, graduating from Sunset High School. She is the mother of two children and grandmother to three grandsons.

She graduated from the Cedar Valley Community College Police Academy in Lancaster, and her first job in law enforcement was with the Garrett Police Department in Ellis County, for three years.

Rabon has worked for the past seven years at the Texas Woman’s University Police Department in Denton.

She enjoys working for a law enforcement agency in an educational setting.

“I want to be a positive role model and a mentor for the children,” Rabon said. “I plan on giving the scholars the tools they need to succeed and prosper in the future. I will teach them leadership skills, confidence, self worth and interpersonal skills.”
