Help CHISD Say Farewell to Kellie Spencer

Help us Celebrate

Dear Longhorn Nation,

Cedar Hill ISD has been fortunate, for the past 23 years, to have the presence and stability of an administrator who has constantly enacted positive change. In the late 1990s, she left her beloved East Texas to accept a teaching position at Bray Elementary School.

CHISD Deputy Superintendent Kellie Spencer rose through the ranks and proved to be successful at every level of leadership, including her current role, where she is a reliable and knowledgeable voice in the Superintendent’s Cabinet.

We are so grateful for Mrs. Spencer’s contributions to the District, so it is with a bittersweet heart that I share the news that she has accepted a position as the Chief Operations Officer of Midland ISD, one of the largest school districts in West Texas.

Spencer’s entire professional career has been with Cedar Hill ISD. She will always be a Longhorn in our hearts, and hers. But just as we tell our scholars, it’s important to accept new and challenging opportunities.

During her time at CHISD, Spencer was a classroom teacher, diagnostician, Special Education Coordinator, Special Education Director, Executive Director of Special Education, Assistant Superintendent of Operations, Acting Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent.

In each of these roles, she impacted at first dozens, then hundreds and eventually thousands of scholars and families.

She played a supportive role in the passage of the 2012 $45 million bond and she’s been a longtime advocate for the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) Program that is now thriving in the District.

We are obviously limited with social distancing, but we still wish to give Spencer a proper goodbye before her final day in the office on June 18.   I am asking the entire Cedar Hill community to use this link to upload photos and share well wishes about Mrs. Spencer so we can compile a video tribute. The communications department will collect the photos, videos and comments now through June 5, 2020.

Cedar Hill ISD is a better district today thanks to the efforts of Kellie Spencer. i hope you share in my sincerest appreciation and respect for Mrs. Spencer and her contributions to CHISD

Sincerely,

Dr. Gerald B. Hudson
