Student Transfers - Cedar Hill Independent School District

The in-district transfer requests for the 2024-2025 school year is now open.

If you would like to request a transfer for your student for the 2024-2025 school year, please review the criteria below and then click the link to complete the online transfer request that is appropriate.

Documentation MUST be either uploaded to the transfer request or emailed to registrationhelp@chisd.net before a transfer is evaluated and a decision is made by the district.

Transfer Criteria:

Student must have 5 or less unexcused absences in the prior semester
- (Documentation required - Attendance Record/Letter of Attendance from prior year)
- Student must have no more than 1 discipline referral and NO out of school suspensions or DAEP/JJAEP placements in the prior year
- (Documentation required - Discipline Letter/Letter of Discipline Assurance from prior year)

No School Transportation will be provided for any transfer student.

Out of District Transfer Request Form

An out-of-district transfer is reserved for students currently living outside of Cedar Hill ISD attendance zones. Students entering grades K-12 may apply for consideration. If approved, students are able to complete every grade level available at the assigned school on a conditional basis.

Students living outside of the CHISD school zone can request an out-of-district transfer request to attend CHISD.
Ensure all required documentation is uploaded (or emailed to registrationhelp@chisd.net).
Transfer requests will NOT be reviewed until all documentation is provided by the parent; CHISD will NOT request records for transfer requests.

How does CHISD determine who can is accepted for an out-of-district transfer?

Transfer decisions are made by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
Transfer decisions are made based on availability of space and instructional staff, student's disciplinary history, students’ attendance records, and student's academic records.
Transfer decisions are made without regard to race, religion, color, sex, disability, national origin, or ancestral language.
All transfers are approved for a period of one school year, subject to available space in the student’s grade level throughout the school year.
Once approved, the transfer request stands indefinitely unless it is revoked by the campus. Transfers can be revoked at the end of every semester if the student is not meeting attendance requirements, has recorded behavior issues, or over-crowded conditions warrant revocation of the transfer.

What are the expectations for students on an out-of-district transfer?

Accepted transfer students shall maintain a 95% attendance, adhere to all rules and regulations of the District, and exemplify acceptable citizenship and conduct.
Accepted transfer students shall make acceptable academic progress.
Accepted transfer students are not guaranteed admission to a requested campus or signature studies school.
Transfers of students participating in any UIL sport or activity is subject to UIL review and must follow CHISD athletic transfer policies.
Please note that if a transfer is approved, transportation must be provided by the parent or guardian
