The district’s portal opens April 1, 2024.  

If your student is enrolled in CHISD on the last day of school in 2024 (May 2024), then your student is categorized as a returning student. If your student attended CHISD during the 2022-2024 or any previous school year but transferred to another school outside of CHISD, they are new to the district. 

You can save your application and complete it at a later date.

Transfer requests are approved based upon availability and student academic records.

• To request a transfer, visit this link  to find all requirements and complete the transfer request form.
• Parents can start submitting transfer requests starting April 1, 2024; transfer requests submitted BEFORE August 1st will be reviewed before the first day of school. 
• Transfer requests received after August 1st will not be reviewed until after August 15th, your scholar will be required to enroll and start at their home campus. 
• Transfers are granted on an annual basis. If your scholar attends school within the district, they will need to complete a new transfer for the 2024-2025 school year. 

You can speak with the enrollment liaison who is available on each CHISD campus. The fastest way to get a response to a question is to email family.access@chisd.net. Please allow 24 hours from receipt of the email for a response. 

Proof of Residency is required for ALL CHISD students who live within the CHISD boundaries. All proof of residency documents must be dated within 30 days of receipt and must be in the parent/guardian’s name. 

All residency paperwork MUST be completed at the CHISD Lacy Enrollment Center. CHISD will no longer allow parents to complete this paperwork offsite to ensure the integrity of the paperwork and to follow all local Board policies. Please make sure to read over all the requirements for the residency paperwork below to ensure you are able to complete everything during your appointment time.

If you have completed the process online and submitted your proof of residency, your child is registered. If you requested a transfer, you will be contacted in August about the availability at your requested school.
