Yes. The Cedar Hill ISD Police Department is a fully-authorized police agency by the State of Texas. The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) certifies all Cedar Hill ISD Police Officers. School district police officers are authorized to enforce all laws and may arrest individuals found in violations of those laws. Additionally, officers may write appropriate citations for offenses covered by State law, including offenses listed in the Texas Education Code. These citations are filed with the City of Cedar Hill Municipal Court. 

No. The Cedar Hill ISD Police Department hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Our officers work campus events and district athletic events after normal business hours. After hours and weekend emergencies are received by the on-call Cedar Hill ISD Police Officer. The officer will appropriately respond and assess whether additional personnel are needed for the emergency. 

Yes. They have statewide authority to make arrests.

Board Policy CKE (LOCAL) specifies this jurisdiction as all territory and all property outside the boundaries of the district that is owned, leased, or rented by or otherwise under the control of the district.

Yes, Cedar Hill ISD Police Officers are authorized to issue traffic citations for violations observed or investigated by a peace officer. 

Tickets issued by Cedar Hill ISD Police Officers are adjudicated in the Cedar Hill Municipal Court.

If you do not appear in court or pay your fine, the court may issue a warrant for your arrest. Any police officer may arrest you once the warrant is issued.

You may see a CHISD Police Officer in a CHISD uniform working events outside our primary jurisdiction such as traffic control, community events, churches, restaurants, movie theaters, and sporting events.
