Digital Citizenship in CHISD

In CHISD, we aim to EDUCATE, EMPOWER, and INSPIRE students, staff, and parents with digital citizenship skills that will unlock the full potential of digital learning. This education fosters a safe, ethical, and productive digital environment for everyone.

All scholars receive monthly lessons over various Digital Citizenship topics. The lessons are pulled from Common Sense Media, Learning.com, and Neptune Navigate. The monthly topics are listed below:

August/September - Digital Citizenship Overview
October - Cyberbullying
November - Digital Reputation
December - Social Media
January - Media Literacy
February - Privacy & Cyber Awareness
March - Tech Laws
April/May - Review

Elementary scholars will receive their digital citizenship lessons monthly when they visit the library. Librarians have access to the lessons that use both the common sense media platform as well as Neptune Navigate. Scholars in Grades 2-5 will utilize learning.com for Digital Citizenship lessons while in the library.

Permenter and Coleman Scholars will also receive digital citizenship lessons through the library. Librarians will use the Neptune Navigate platform.

Collegiate Academy and Collegiate High School will utilize their advisory period to present the lessons to scholars.

Cedar Hill High School scholars will receive digital citizenship monthly during their social studies course.
