Bio: In 2000, Gayle Sims and her husband, Alan, moved to Cedar Hill from Kansas when he was hired as the city manager. That same year, she accepted a position with the city of Waxahachie as the director of human resources and civil service. In December 2016, after more than 30 years in human resources for public and private entities, she retired.

She serves on the Cedar Hill Community Development Commission and was previously a member of the Cedar Hill Education Foundation (CHEF). During her tenure at CHEF, she was elected vice president of administration and president.

Sims and her husband have four adult children and seven grandchildren. Sims believes a quality education is what every child deserves to reach their dreams.

Bio: Trustee Roache-Davis is very familiar with Cedar Hill ISD as a Principal at five different CHISD campuses – both elementary and secondary - between 2002-2017.

Roache-Davis was the first principal at Lake Ridge Elementary when it opened its doors in 2002. She served there until 2007 when she became the Principal at Permenter Middle School, from 2007-2012. Roache-Davis then served as Principal of Bray Elementary (2012-2013), Bessie Coleman Middle School (2013-2014) and the Ninth Grade Center (2014-2017). In 2007, Roache-Davis was the CHISD Administrator of the Year.

Roache-Davis earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Florida and an education specialist degree from Nova University, also in Florida, in Administration and Supervision. Her Master’s Degree, from Florida Atlantic University, was in Guidance & Counseling. Roache-Davis earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Kentucky State University in Elementary and Early Childhood Education.

Prior to arriving at CHISD, Roache-Davis served as a principal in Fort Worth ISD and Palm Beach County, Florida. She worked in Palm Beach County, Florida schools as a teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal and principal from 1978-1998. Roache-Davis began her career as a teacher at Booker T. Washington Elementary School in Lexington, Kentucky from 1976-1978.

Roache-Davis has served on multiple CHISD Committees, including the Elementary and Kindergarten Report Card Committees and the District Calendar Committee. She is involved in numerous Cedar Hill and Dallas organizations, including the Cedar Hill Lions Club.

Roache-Davis is a member of the Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church as well as an Education Committee Member at the church.

Bio: Trustee Ross-Bacon has been very active in the Cedar Hill community. Ross-Bacon and her husband, Troy, are the proud parents of five sons, the youngest of whom, Thaddaeus, is a Cedar Hill Collegiate High School Class of 2015 Graduate.

Ross-Bacon served in several parent leadership organizations at Collegiate High School. She believes that collaboratively working with the parents, teachers, scholars, staff and administration is the key to making CHISD a premier educational system that will contribute to the city’s vitality.

Ross-Bacon is a retired US Navy Gulf War Combat Veteran. She began serving her country in 1984 as a Vertical Launch Missile and Missile System Specialist and retired from the military in 2002. She is a chapter officer for the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 42.

Ross-Bacon has committed her career to working as a Substance Abuse, Co-Dependency and Career Counselor. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and an Associates of Liberal Arts, both from Saint Leo University in Florida. She has two Associates degrees from Eastfield College in Mesquite in Substance Abuse Counseling and Social Work, respectively. She has many certificates and endorsements from institutes of higher learning in the Virginia Beach area.

A founder and owner of “A Mother’s Love Preschool and Daycare”, Ross-Bacon developed a preschool readiness curriculum that set the academic foundation for scholars, before their entry into the public school system. She is also the founder of the Village Foundation Youth Initiative Inc., an organization that provides disability, educational and financial assistance. She is a member of the Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church. She is on the Veterans and Small Group Ministry at the Church.

Mrs. Ayanna Cabrera-Cook

Bio: Ayanna Cabrera-Cook begins her first term as a Cedar Hill ISD Trustee after several PTA and community roles with the district.

She was the Cedar Hill Council of PTAs President ,bVice President and Treasurer. She also served in similar roles at High Pointe Elementary School and Bessie Coleman Middle School. Cabrera-Cook was a member of the Longhorn Futures Committee (LFC), Budget Committee and Equity Committee.

A native New Yorker, Cabrera-Cook earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce and her Associate's Degree from Southwestern Christian. She’s lived in Cedar Hill for 18 years and is a proud parent of a Cedar Hill High School rising junior and a Bessie Coleman Middle School rising seventh grader and a 2022 CHHS Graduate.

Professionally, Cabrera-Cook is a Reservation and Events Manager. She credits her need to advocate for students and teachers to become a Trustee. She hopes to increase involvement for parents, alumni, and community members within Cedar Hill ISD. Cabrera-Cook would also like to enhance the district’s approach to parent curriculum.

Cabrera-Cook is a member of the Central Pointe Church of Christ in Dallas. She’s been a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated for 30 years. She’s currently a member of the Southwest Dallas County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Incorporated.

Bio: Dr. Lester Singleton moved to Cedar Hill in 2000, and his two children attended Cedar Hill ISD.

An administrator in  Dallas ISD, Singleton is one of three Trustees with experience working in the education field, joining Trustee Carma Morgan. Board Vice President Dr. Denise Roache-Davis is a retired educator.
The Mississippi native earned a Doctorate of Ministry at Andersonville Seminary and two Master’s Degrees from Texas A&M University-Commerce (Educational Administration and Secondary Education). Singleton earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Dallas Baptist University.

Singleton has served on the City of Cedar Hill Beautification and Environmental Sustainability Board for the past decade. He’s a member of Cedar Hill All Pro Dads and a former member of the City of Cedar Hill’s Comprehensive Plan Committee. He served as a volunteer for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) of Dallas County.

Singleton chose to run because of his passion, experience, leadership and vision of excellence. School safety is a top priority for Singleton, along with creating positive relationships and school culture.

Bio: Cedar Hill ISD Trustee Carma Morgan has worked as an educator since 1997. She began as a Social Studies and Mathematics Teacher in Dallas ISD and became an administrator in Lancaster ISD. Morgan is currently an Instructional Coordinator in DeSoto ISD.

Morgan earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Texas Woman’s University in Denton and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a minor in Mathematics from Cameron University in her hometown of Lawton, Oklahoma.

Morgan served honorably in the United States Air Force as a Dental Assistant for four years. She was stationed in North Dakota, Korea and Texas.

Morgan has lived in Cedar Hill since 2007 and is the proud parent of five daughters – two of whom graduated from Cedar Hill ISD and three of whom are current CHISD scholars.

Bio: Trustee Denishea Williams is a longtime Cedar Hill ISD PTA leader who recently served as the Council of PTAs President in Cedar Hill ISD. She is a wife, mother, advocate, community leader, entrepreneur and a lifetime Girl Scout.

She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from The University of Texas at Arlington and an Associate’s Degree from Dallas College.

Professionally, Williams is a Mental Health Advocate and Speaker for SisStar Support Circle.

A Dallas native, Williams is proud of her efforts to increase parental involvement and volunteerism in Cedar Hill ISD. She’s collaborated with organizations such as the Texas PTA Advocacy Committee and Raise Your Hand Texas on a wide variety of educational topics.

Williams’ volunteer work includes the Texas Women Foundation, American Heart Association, Mom Congress and 20/20 Mom. She served as the President of Mocha Moms Inc., Dallas South Chapter.

Williams believes in serving others, and she finds the greatest joy in educating and empowering individuals and families.
