Longhorns

Readers are Leaders

What is it?

A district-wide program to help students excel at reading.

_____

Why is it important?

Research shows that third-graders who read on grade level are more likely to go to college and earn higher wages.

_____

How can you help?

  • Encourage your child to read 20 minutes every day.
  • Talk to your child's teacher if they need more help.
  • Talk to them about their homework. Have them read the questions and answers to you.
  • Don't forget, reading doesn't always mean books. Kids can read age-appropriate magazines or websites.
