Magnet Acceptance Criteria - Collegiate Academy & High School

 Eligibility

1. 80% average in core subjects (Reading/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies)
2. Minimum Measurement of Academic Progress MAP) 
   • 70% Math, 70% Reading

Required Documentation

1. Most recent report card (for all students 2nd - 12th grade)
2. MAP Scores or any norm-referenced test scores (for all students 2nd-12th grade)
3. Existing IEP and/or 504 accommodation, if applicable

Magnet probation and dismissal 

1. All students accepted for one year 
2. Must meet discipline, attendance, and academic requirements (Transfer requirements) 
3. Probation 
• Failure in core subjects-Teacher must implement the failure prevention plan  
• 3 or more absences in a marking period 
• 1 or more major referrals

Cedar Hill ISD Choose Your Seat application window is open now through March 29, 2024.  

Upon accepting your child’s seat assignment, the final step in the choice process is to complete the enrollment process at the district level at chisd.net/enrollment. You will be contacted by the district when the enrollment period opens. If you have questions regarding the status of your enrollment application, contact the Enrollment Office at registrationhelp@chisd.net. 

The district offers open enrollment; families who live outside of Cedar Hill are eligible to apply. For more information on the out of district transfer process, please click here.

1. Visit https://choice.net/chooseyourseat to access the Schoolmint application portal.
2. If you have previously applied for CHISD Choice programs through Schoolmint, login to your account. If you have not previously applied for CHISD Choice programs through Schoolmint, create a parent account on the Login Dashboard. 
3. You may submit multiple applications for multiple family members under your account.
4. You may submit an application for more than one Choice Program, but will only be able to accept a seat at one school.
5. You will receive emails from choice@chisd.net to notify you of the status of your application, but you can also opt for text messages as well. Please use an email that you frequently use and ensure that you check your spam mail for updates. Read those emails carefully as additional information may be required.

Scholars currently enrolled in a Choice Program will remain assigned to that program unless they no longer wish to remain in the program or if they are not invited to return due to “good standing” requirements. 

Parents who no longer wish for their child to remain in the program of Choice must indicate their intent by logging on to their Schoolmint Account and completing the intent to return form or withdrawing their scholar from the program. The window to complete the intent to return form for current families passed on December 15, 2023.

The majority of the school choice programs are free. Kindergarten through 12th grade scholars attend for free.

This year, Cedar Hill ISD Choose Your Seat school choice program application window has been reopened! The district is accepting applications NOW through March 29, 2024. 
 

Parents will be notified via SchoolMint regarding the 2nd round of program admissions in early April 2024. 

Transportation will not be provided to choice programs outside of the neighborhood attendance zone.
