What Parents Need to Know:
I am a servant - collaborative leader. In the age of post - Covid quarantines, service to others is needed more than ever. Through intentional collaboration with a mentality of seeking to understand, I believe we can provide an exceptional learning environment for EVERY scholar in a spirit of excellence with a mindset of continual academic and social progression.
A few responsibilities that I have been charged with include developing and refining our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) team. The PBIS team will be responsible for ensuring that we are meeting the needs of EVERY scholar both in terms of academics and social emotional levels. Additionally, the PBIS team will strive to ensure our teachers and staff are serving in an ideal professional learning environment. Our goal is to transform Bessie Coleman into a Premier Model Middle School.
Additionally, I will serve as both a mentor and coach to our professional instructional leaders ensuring support of our distinguished teachers in developing and refining research-based instructional practices that focus on differentiation so that we are effective in meeting the needs of EVERY scholar - meeting each learner where he/she is at and ensuring that each child progresses successfully.
This past February, my eternal companion (Theresa) and I celebrated 30 years of marriage. We have been blessed with four children (3 daughters and 1 son). We additionally have three grand babies (2 boys and 1 girl).
A proud native Texan with over 20 years in education. I served as a missionary for my church in Costa Rica, Central America for several years after I graduated from High School. I earned my Bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University in Latin American Studies. After entering public education as an elementary bilingual teacher, I completed my Masters at the University of Texas at Arlington in Education Administration and Public Policy. Serving as a transformative principal leader in turning around a perennial low performing Elementary school in Dallas into a premier model elementary school, I was extended the opportunity to apply to the University of Texas at Austin in Education Administration where I obtained my Doctorate in Education Administration.
