Mrs. Candace Hubbard

Hello Collegiate Academy parents and scholars! I am Mrs. Hubbard, the School Counselor. My school counseling mission is to provide a comprehensive, developmental school counseling program for our middle school scholars. I work to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of all students. As the Collegiate Academy School Counselor, I perform the following roles to promote positive development in academic, career and personal/social domains:

  • Individual counseling
  • Small group counseling
  • Class guidance ( Large group counseling)
  • Attend and participate in academic intervention meetings
  • Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) site team member
  • Consult and collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, social workers and students
  • Respond to school crisises or emergency situations
  • Provide information and resources to parents on a variety of issues

To ensure that our scholars are prepared to become the next generation of workers, leaders and citizens, they need support & guidance. In their early adolescence, students face challenges both personally and developmentally, that have an impact on academic achievement. Some of the topics that may be addressed during our meetings are:

  • Self confidence
  • Getting along with others
  • Parents' divorce
  • Being a "new kid"
  • Studying
  • Bullying
  • Organization
  • Promoting positive attitudes among students towards self, family, peers and community
  • College/Career Exploration
