Mrs. Latonya E. Knight

I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana.  My family and I relocated to Texas thirteen years ago.  Prior to starting my teaching career, I worked at the YMCA, Exxon Mobile Company, Total Community Action Inc., taught a General Education Development (GED) course, and was a payroll/accounting clerk for seven years.  I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education, May 2002.  This is my fifteenth year of teaching.

In August 2003, I began my teaching career as a 2nd grade teacher in New Orleans.  After relocating to Texas, I taught 4th grade at High Pointe' Elementary from March-May 2006. Thereafter, I taught 1st grade for eleven years at High Pointe' Elementary.  For the past two years, I have taught Kindergarten at High Pointe' Elementary.  I have served as the grade level chair/team leader for six years, assisted new staff members with making a smooth transition into the education arena, and served on various campus and district committees:  curriculum planning and writing, assessment planning and writing, discipline, attendance, Campus Advisory Team (CAT), parent involvement, and student placement.

I have been married for eighteen years.  My husband and I are the proud parents of an amazing son who is thirteen years old.

Helping scholars reach their fullest potential is my passion.  I love teaching and my scholars love learning.  I have helped all of my scholars as well as scholars throughout our campus and district to grow and excel in my class, at High Pointe Elementary, throughout the district, and in college.  I am committed and dedicated to teaching, learning, collaborating, and developing a successful partnership with professors, administrators, staff, parents, and the community.  With our partnership, our scholars will reach and exceed their goals!

One Team, One Goal-Scholar Achievement!
