Meet Ms. Thomas

Greetings Longhorns Students and Parents!!!  My name is Astrid Thomas and I love teaching English. I am so excited about this year because it is going to be challenging and rewarding. I am delighted that this is my 10th year teaching English at CHHS and going into my 17th year in the profession. I earned my Bachelor's Degree at the #1 prestigious HBCU, Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia and received my Master of Education at Grand Canyon University. I have been blessed with two beautiful princesses, Aleria and Olivia and my sonshine, Kayden. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, working with my church ministries, reading, and shopping.

As an educator, I am determined to be an effective teacher to help all my students be successful. English is a course that will allow students to explore new adventures. I always encourage my students to work hard and never give up, no matter how difficult the task. It my goal to create a learning environment where all my students will learn, grow and succeed to their greater potential. I am looking forward to partnering with all my parents and students to ensure this will be an awesome year. Get Ready for an AMAZING Year!!!
