Parents must know:  In order for your child to get the most out of their choir experience, they must practice at home.  Please help me, your child, and our program thrive by ensuring a consistent home practice routine.  What you put into it is what you'll get out of it.  Students will be provided tools in class that they can use to practice when they are away from class. All students are required to spend a few minutes daily practicing their sight reading and working on learning their music. Music at concerts will be performed memorized so it is important that students spend time learning and memorizing their music outside of school.

About Me:

I taught middle and high school choir last year while completing my Master's in Vocal Pedagogy at Texas Woman's University. I also earned a MM in Music Education from Boston University and got my Bachelors in music at Rutgers University. I am passionate about helping my students find and learn how to use their voices to sing and enrich their lives. I believe that anyone can learn how to sing. It takes patience and practice, but everyone has an ability in them to be musical and sing.

I have lived with my family in Texas for 5 years now and really enjoy it here. I have 6 kids starting with my oldest who is a sophomore at UNT and ending with my youngest who is 4. Four girls, 2 boys. We also love animals and have 2 cats and a dog. The cats are Rizza (copper tabby) and Harley (calico) and the dog is Bear (lemon dalmatian/greyhound mix? We think.)

I am looking forward to learning and growing alongside my students: learning music, singing lots, laughing, crying (happy tears ftw) and becoming the best musicians we can be. I am excited to teach choir at Bessie Coleman MS. I hope we will all reach for the stars and do amazing things just like our fierce namesake Ms. Coleman!

Horns Up!
