Mrs. Winfield

Welcome Art 1 Students to 2018-2019 School year!

This year begins my 7th year teaching and my 7th year at CHISD. The first 5 years I taught Art 1 at the Ninth Grade Center exclusively, and last year I branched out to teach Art 1 at the CHHS Campus to 10, 11, and 12th graders.

I grew up surrounded by artists, my mother earned her degree in Art Education, and my father, now retired, taught Art on the College level.  My primary strengths and focus on visual art during college was with printmaking. I was fortunate to work with printmaking Masters and worked with lithography, multi-color screen printing as well as intaglio and relief printmaking. I enjoy many arts and crafts.

I earned my AA Degree at Tarrant County College, majoring in liberal arts and with 3 areas of concentration, Art, Theater and Music. I earned my BA in Communications at Texas A&M@Corpus Christi, focusing on Printmaking, Theater Arts and Film History/Criticism.  I earned my Teaching Certificate through Texas A&M Commerce and have been working towards an MA degree in Education.

Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked in a variety of retail jobs before, during and after college until I decided to pursue the dream I always had to be a teacher by adding to my education and becoming a teacher. I bring a wealth of experience that children will benefit from as we get to know each other.  I hope I can assist your children with practicalities of life outside of the sheltered school setting in regards to applying for, and keeping that part time or summer job.

I'm looking forward to this year working with your children to bring them more knowledge about the history of visual artwork, the processes behind creating original work, exposures to a variety of mediums which will bring a new appreciation and evaluation of artwork in general.
