Mrs. Patricia Byrd

Welcome to what is destined to be a remarkable school year for us all! My name is Mrs. Patricia Jones Byrd, and I am both humbled and honored to share teaching/learning processes with the second grade scholars and families of Plummer Elementary School. This year marks my third year of service to the Plummer school community~ a third opportunity to accelerate learning for my scholars and, otherwise, advance the goals and initiatives of Cedar Hill ISD.

I have served in public school education for thirty-three years, and my undeniable commitment to my work has not waned with the passing of time. As an educational consultant, I worked with educators in approximately 30 states within the United States. I was the first African American principal of Bray Elementary School (CHISD), and I also served as principal of West Intermediate School (CHISD). Throughout my educational career, I have been named both Teacher of the Year and Principal of the Year.

I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to a sharecropper turned Baptist pastor and a food service worker who fluently spoke three languages. I have twelve siblings and a 35 year old daughter who makes her living in restaurant general management. My husband is a law enforcement officer, musician, and avid fisherman. He and I have been married for 41 years, and we call Waxahachie, Texas home.

Teaching gives me life, and it is my sincere hope that my passion for the educational process will inspire my scholars to love learning all the more. I look forward to forging fortified relationships with my scholars and their families- relationships so powerful that each scholar on my roster will experience exponential academic, social, and emotional growth- the likes of which they have never known! HAPPY SCHOOL YEAR!
