I am from San Antonio, Texas. My path to being a SKILL teacher involves taking a job with our local ECI Program after receiving a BBA from Texas A&M University. It would be my first experience working with children aged 0-3 who have special needs. I left after the birth of my first child and did not return to work until she was 7 years old. I received a Master's degree in Special Education in 2008 and worked at various special education sites in Saint Louis County until I received my certification to teach Special Education in Missouri.
Before being hired as a SKILL teacher for the 2017-2018 school year, I worked for The Special School District of Saint Louis County for 9 years as a Special Education co-teacher in different subjects at the high school level. I was assigned to the Hazelwood West High School and had a extraordinarily high number of students who have Autism. After much discernment and planning, I decided to relocate to Texas to be closer to my family.
When I get some free time, I enjoy running and reading. I am on track to complete 35 books this year as my goal on Goodreads.
I have enjoyed getting to know the staff and students at Lake Rdge Elementary and look forward to the rest of the school year.
