Greetings Longhorn Family!

My name is Camille Holmes, and your child has been assigned to my English I and English I Pre AP class for the 2018-2019 academic year.

As we embark upon a new and exciting time in your child’s life, I want to convey how elated I am to be an intricate part of this journey.

This year is monumental for me as well. As we open the 2018-2019 academic year, I am celebrating my 12th year in public education.

Over the last twelve years, I have taught all levels of English, excluding English III and English III AP.  I have a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Radio Broadcast and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading. I also have forty-five hours towards a doctorate in Higher Education Administration. My research focuses on developing ways to assist first generation college students navigate the academic challenges of their first year of college.

My goal for this year is simple. I want your child to experience growth and success in both reading and writing. We will begin working towards accomplishing this goal on Day 1.

The Course Information, which outlines student expectations, supplies and other pertinent information, will be forthcoming.

Until then, I am asking that your child bring the following supplies on the first day of class:

  • 1 Composition Notebook,
  • 1 package of multi-color highlighters (the package normally comes with pink, blue, green, orange, 2 yellows and maybe purple.)
  • 1 1” three-ring Binder with clear view (White, Black or Red), and
  • 1 set of 5 dividers.

You can also visit the Supply List Page on the website for supplies for your child's class period.

Also, please make sure your child is working on the Summer Reading Assignment. Summer Reading Assignment

If you have any questions prior to the first day of school, please do not hesitate to email me.

I look forward to building our partnership this year.
