Best way(s) to contact me: Email me at aimee.lewis-thomas@chisd, or call the front office at 972-291-4231 x 5751. You can also text me through Class Dojo. I will send home information on how to set that up at the beginning of the year.
Best time to contact me: You may email me or send me a dojo message anytime throughout the day. More than likely, I will respond after school or in the evenings.
Parents must know: School is a partnership. I can't wait to get to know you and your child. I realize this may be your first school experience. I will do whatever necessary to make this the best year EVER for your baby and yourself. Please contact me with ANY concerns or comments you may have. Also, for your child to love to read, they must be exposed to great books. Please make reading a daily routine. Allow your child to read to you and you read to your child. As a beginning kindergartener, many won't be able to read yet. Please allow them to "read" to you by retelling a familiar story to you or tell you the story by describing the pictures. It's going to be a great year! Welcome to school!
Hello Bray Longhorns!
This is the beginning of my 22nd year as an educator, and my 4th year in CHISD. My first three years at Bray, I taught 1st grade. This year, I'm entering kindergarten. Yay! Prior to my work here in CHISD, I have experience from three different states, including Oklahoma, Nevada, and of course, Texas. I also have 16 years experience in a kindergarten classroom, experience in Pre-k and 2nd grades. I have a passion for teaching young children, especially inspiring young children to become authors and illustrators.
On a personal note, I'm married to Tony and we have two children, Georgia, 12, and Ashton, 10. We originate from Oklahoma where most of our family currently lives. Cedar Hill is now home to us. We have been here three years and have felt right at home since day 1. We are active members of this community. My daughter is pursuing an acting/modeling career and my son absolutely loves robotics and anything engineering related. We attend Church on the Hill, where we serve as Network Pastors.
My personal and professional philosophy is "To teach a child, you must love the child." I believe that EVERY scholar can learn. You must first foster a relationship with that scholar. When they know you truly care, then they want to learn.
Let's get this year started! It's a great day to be a longhorn!
