Orchestra

  • Orchestra

The Orchestra program is one of the newest fine arts programs in the district.  It was started by a music teacher, Mrs. Wendy Anuwe, at Bray Elementary and has grown to include the entire district. CHISD now offers Orchestra at Bray Elementary in grades 3-5, at both middle schools, and at CHHS.

A new student may begin orchestra at any time, but the usual time frame is in middle school or attending Bray Elementary.

Our repertoire includes many selections from the classical side as well as current music and Movie and Broadway selections.  CHISD offers a comprehensive program that includes TMEA Region Orchestra, UIL Solos and Ensemble contest, and UIL large ensemble contest in grades 7-12.

Orchestra is the study of many musical genres, including classical music, ballet, opera, broadway, movie themes and wealth of other music styles.  Students are exposed to Beethoven’s Ode to Joy within a month of beginning strings!

Our program is relatively new, but we have already earned sweepstakes and we have consistently brought home Division awards in Sight Reading.
