Celebrating 120 Years

120 of Education in CHISD

The Cedar Hill Independent School District will celebrate its 120th school year when classes begin on Monday, August 12, 2024.

Cedar Hill ISD started in 1904 when the district served a small, mostly rural Dallas County community. At the time, all of the scholars attended classes in a single building.

Cedar Hill grew over the years, and by the early 2000s, it had established itself as one of the premier suburbs in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Cedar Hill ISD now has two high schools, three middle schools, and six elementary schools, serving more than 6,000 scholars.

Throughout the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, Cedar Hill ISD will honor the district’s history and those Longhorns who came before us.
