Hello Coleman Longhorns! 

My name is LaConya Ponder and this is my 10th year in education and my 3rd year at Bessie Coleman. I am excited about teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Avid this school year. Avid (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a college-readiness program designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in college. 

Bessie Coleman's administrators, teachers, and staff place a high value on our students and want to help them develop personal, relational, and leadership skills. I believe each Longhorn is a leader and I am here to help your child become a quality leader with a strong sense of who they are and where they are going. I believe all students have the ability to become future leaders and I am here to help mold them and help them reach their full potential.
