1st Grading Period (Unit 1):

Students will engage in SEL activities to develop self awareness and self management to be successful in school.

Students will learn the purposes and techniques of annotating to examine the text closely and critically. 

Students will be exposed to culturally relevant texts to develop an interest in reading.

Students will acquire a wide vocabulary, an understanding of grammar and knowledge of linguistic conventions for reading, writing and spoken language.
