Mr. Benjamin Hairgrove
I am very proud to be part of Collegiate Academy and High School. I started at Collegiate High School teaching World History in 2011 and then became the Vice Chancellor in 2014. My wife was a history teacher at Collegiate High School from 2014-2017 as well. So we consider Collegiate to be part of our family. We left to work in Santa Fe New Mexico in 2017 but we decided to come back to DFW because we missed the community at Cedar Hill, I also wanted to continue working on my doctorate with UNT, and we wanted our son to be closer to family. Collegiate is a special place and I am honored to have been part of it for so long.
Before Collegiate I was a Child Abuse Investigator with CPS for the State of Texas in the Livingston area. After CPS I became a World History Teacher at Dunbar High School in Fort Worth as well as the Tennis Coach for three years. I then went to go teach in Debrecen Hungary for a year to see the places I had been teaching about. When we returned to the US I was hired at Collegiate.
I love to travel, 21 countries and most US states so far. I love both history and politics so we have been to all the Presidential Libraries except for Carter, Hoover, and Eisenhower. I also love comic books, especially Batman. I am also a lover of the outdoors with snow and water skiing as well as horse training/riding as my favorite activities.
Most importantly I believe in programs like Collegiate. We help students gain opportunities that are unique to the ECHS experience. I love helping students pursue their goals and get to see and experience the world of college and life. We are a special place that does great things and I enjoy helping students continue that legacy.
