    The Cedar Hill ISD Board of Trustees is in the process of identifying the next superintendent to lead the district’s nearly 1,000 dedicated staff members and more than 7,800 scholars.

    The Board has requested that staff and the public be involved in developing a profile of the leadership qualities desired of the next superintendent.

    *UPDATE* - July 23, 2019

    The Cedar Hill ISD Board of Trustees approved the employment of Dr. Gerald Hudson as superintendent during a special called board meeting on Tuesday, July 23, following the required 21-day waiting period. Hudson signed a 4-year contract effective immediately. 

    The Dallas native joins CHISD from Jasper ISD where he served as superintendent for two years. Dr. Hudson graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and earned his master’s degree and a doctorate in education administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

    “This is a great day for Cedar Hill ISD students, staff and the entire community. The board of trustees were unanimous in our selection of Dr. Hudson because he is well-respected among his peers and is a proven educational leader who will take our district to the next level,” said Trustee President Cheryl Wesley. “He has a history of fostering strong relationships in the community and will bring innovative ideas that our scholars and staff can benefit from. We are eager to start the new school year under Dr. Hudson’s leadership,” added Wesley.

    “Cedar Hill ISD is a district that exemplifies dedication to its scholars and is focused on their success. I believe through continuous academic improvement, all CHISD schools will sustain and grow its reputation of providing inspiring learning environments.     The Cedar Hill Independent School District Board of Trustees have scheduled a special called meeting to vote on the employment of Dr. Gerald Hudson as the next superintendent. The board invites parents, staff and the community to attend the meeting and community reception planned immediately following the board’s vote.

    After completing two evenings of interviews with applicants, the Board of Trustees voted to invite two candidates to a second round of interviews.

     

    *UPDATE* - June 12, 2019

    Today’s called board meeting begins at 4 p.m. at the Hillside Village management office, located at 305 West FM 1382, Ste. 590, second floor, in Cedar Hill. Due to building restrictions, the meeting will reconvene at 4:15 p.m. in conference rooms B and C in the Cedar Hill Government Center, located at 285 Uptown Blvd. in Cedar Hill.

     

    *UPDATE* - June 6, 2019

    Community input meetings were held on May 30 and June 3 to allow the public an chance to provide feedback on the district's next leader. Nearly 100 attendees particiated in the meetings and expressed the strengths and weaknesses for the district as well as the opportunities and threats the new leader will encounter.    Click here to view the comments from participants. 

    The Board of Trustees reviewed dozens of superintendent applications and have decided to interview 6 candidates for the position; the interviews will be held during the month of June.
