Angele Hodges, Director

Angele Hodges has more than 16 years of education experience. Prior to joining CHISD, she held principalships at Glencrest 6th Grade school and Morningside Middle School in Fort Worth. At Morningside she created transformational gains. When she took the position the Texas Education Agency rated the campus Improvement Required. Her efforts moved the campus to Met Standard, the state’s highest rating.

In 2015 Hodges completed the Harlem Children’s Zone Practitioner’s Institute in Harlem, New York. Additionally, in 2017, she was selected to study at Harvard University for a summer leadership conference.

Hodges is married and the proud mother of two high school scholar athletes.

Mrs. Marquita Rollins-White, Site Coordinator

Marquita Rollins-White has more than 10 years of education experience. Prior to joining CHISD, she was a math instructional specialist and a middle school math teacher with Fort Worth ISD. While with FWISD, she worked with a great team to move their "improvement required" status to "met standard". 

In previous years, Rollins-White also enjoyed being a volleyball coach and mentor. This afforded her the opportunity to help young ladies be healthy and strong physically on the court, and emotionally/mentally strong off the court.

Rollins-White is married with one son. They enjoy traveling and exploring new places.

She is the coordinator for Permenter Middle School, Collegiate Academy and High School, the Ninth Grade Center and Early College Academy at CHHS.

Mr. Byron Mason, Site Coordinator

Byron Mason has been an educator for over 21 years. His roles have continued to evolve over the years from his beginning as an elementary physical education teacher, to an assistant principal and principal for elementary and recently as a high school assistant principal. All these experiences have helped bring him to this point. He believes it to be an honor to help all scholars in Cedar Hill achieve post-secondary success through his current role with GEAR UP.

Mr. Mason has been married for 22 years and has three daughters. The oldest is a graduate of Cedar Hill Collegiate High School, and the younger two attend Cedar Hill Collegiate Prep and Cedar Hill Collegiate High School respectively. Outside of work, he enjoys riding his motorcycle, DIY home projects and traveling with his family.

 

She is the coordinator for Bessie Coleman Middle School, Collegiate Academy and High School, the Ninth Grade Center and Early College Academy at CHHS.

Mrs. Allison V. Knott, Family and Financial Literacy Advocate

Allison Knott comes to CHISD with more than 10 years of education experience. During her years in Fort Worth ISD, she worked as an elementary teacher and Behavior Interventionist. Most recently, she worked as a College and Career Readiness Coach at the middle school level helping to educate students and their families on the endless post-secondary possibilities; and encouraging them to start thinking about life after high school. 

Mrs. Knott has completed countless numbers of training and professional development hours with the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). She believes it is never too early to expose our youth to as many college and career options now so it will not shock them or seem foreign later.

Allison has been married for 20 years and has a 16-year-old son. She enjoys cooking and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Karen Martinez, Program Assistant

Karen Martinez began working for Cedar Hill ISD in September 2017 as the district Receptionist and Substitute Clerk. She joined the GEAR UP team as Program Assistant in January 2018. Prior to coming to CHISD, Mrs. Martinez worked as an Educational Administrative Assistant at Arlington Public Schools in Virginia for 17 years. There, she oversaw all administrative functions in the principal's office, was co-sponsor of LYLAS (a Latina Youth Group) and the Hospitality Chair. She also assisted Latino families and students with understanding the school culture and environment and course requirements. 

Karen was born in El Salvador, Central America. Her family moved to California when she was only one-year-old; then later to Virginia, where she lived for 29 years. In August of 2017, she and her husband and two daughters moved to Texas; where she plans on retiring. In her free time, Karen enjoys graphic design, dancing, listening to music and simply enjoying life with her family.

Karen feels privileged to be part of a program that will make a difference in so many children's lives.
