    Math:

    Multiplication with arrays and finding area. Multiplication story problems

    Science: 

    Food chains. Students will learn who is eating who and how energy is passed from one living thing to the next. Vocabulary: Consumers, producers, predator, prey, herbivore, omnivore, carnivore

    Weekly Reminder:

    Due to STAAR testing, there will be no tutoring this week.

    Week of March 26, 2018

    Math: 

    Finishing unit on Measurement: Reviewing measuring for length to the nearest inch/centimeter, addition and subtraction story problems; including regrouping, comparing between unit size and how it affects measurements of the same object. The bigger the unit the less you need/The small the unit the more you need. Unit test this Thursday, March 29, 2018.

    Science: 

    Animal behavior: Life cycles of insects. Students should be able to tell about the different stages of the life cycle of an insects: Beetles, butterflies, grasshopper.

    Weekly Reminders:

    There is no school this Friday.

    Tutoring this Tuesday 3:00-4:00

    Week of March 5, 2018

    Math:

    Measurement Length: Centimeters, Meters, Kilometers. Students will learn to pick the appropriate unit to measure selected objects. Students will measure items to the nearest centimeter, students will make a select the best estimate of objects. We will be taking an assessment this week on Friday.

    Science:

    This week we are learning about animal adaptations. What on an animal's body helps them to get the food they eat and to be able to survive in the environments that they live in. Students will create an animal adaptation poster.

    No tutoring this week: Mandatory staff meeting!

    Remember next week is Spring Break! I will be sending home work with your student on Friday. If your child has any work that is under 70, have them make corrections and break back the Monday we return. That will be the last chance to make any improvements to grades before final report card!

    Weekly Reminders:

    Remember homework packets are given on Monday and due on Friday.

    Students must complete: Reading M-F and have parent signatures

    Students much also complete 4 activities to do for the spelling and High Frequency words for the week.

    Students much complete 1 Math worksheet

     

    Please review and sign behavior planners nightly and return to school with your child each day.

    Look in those Tuesday folders for any work that is below 70. Fix and return!

    Week of November 6, 2017

    Well parents here's what we will be learning this week:

    Math:

    Geometry 2D shapes.

    By the end of the unit your child should be able to define a polygon (all straight side, more than 3 sides, all sides closed (touching))

    Should be able to name and describe polygons based on their attributes: Triangle is a polygon with 3 sides and 3 vertices.

    Science:

    Earth Science: This week we are learning about rocks. Students should be able to classify rocks by size, texture and color.

    Tutoring begins this Tuesday, November 7, 2017 3:30-4:15
