Parents must know: I want choir to be a positive experience for every student, and a chance for students to express themselves in a constructive and collaborative environment.
Mr. Wheelock is the current Choir Director at Bessie Coleman Middle School in Cedar Hill ISD. While this is his first year at BCMS, Mr. Wheelock is no stranger to teaching choir in Texas. Mr. Wheelock has been teaching choir to both middle and high school-aged students for over ten years now. He started his choir teaching career at Audie Murphy Middle School and Eastern Hills Middle School in Killeen ISD. From there, he taught in Corsicana ISD at Collins Middle School and most reciently held the position of Choir Director at Corsicana High School for six years. Under his direction, choirs have earned top scores at UIL Concert/Sight-Reading Contest, and students have placed in All-Region Choirs, as well as medaled at State UIL Solo/Ensemble Contest.
Mr. Wheelock attended Texas A&M University-Commerce and graduated in 2012 with his Bachelors of Science degree in Music Education. In 2019, he earned his Masters of Music degree from TAMU-Commerce with a focus on Choral Conducting.
In his personal time, Mr. Wheelock enjoys spending time with his wife, Brenna, and their two children: Brooklyn and Benjamin. Mr. Wheelock is also an avid PC gamer, and spends much of his free time playing on his custom gaming PC that he build by himself. His most recient games to play are: World of Warcraft, Call of Duty: MW2, Gotham Knights, and Spider-Man.
