Chimere Mitchell

I am Chimere Mitchell! I am excited to be serving as a counselor for Bessie Coleman.

I have worked in the field of education for 16 years and this is my second year at Bessie Coleman. Working with young people is my passion and I am thrilled to have served in this capacity for many years. I have learned throughout the years that the climate and culture of any setting can make the ultimate difference and I am excited to collaborate with campus leaders to ensure our campus is continuously evolving to cultivate an encouraging space for our scholars.


Part of my focus at Bessie Coleman is to ensure our scholars feel heard and seen by recognizing students’ abilities and guiding them to learn SEL skills in order to navigate through the complexities of everyday life. I believe the social emotional well-being of today's youth is significant in their overall development. Working to bridge the gap between their social-emotional needs and their academic successes can ensure overall growth in our scholars.
