Parents must know:  In order for your child to get the most out of their orchestra experience, they must practice at home.  Please help me, your child, and our program thrive by ensuring a consistent home practice routine.  What you put into it is what you'll get out of it.  If you want a strong return on your orchestra investment...please PRACTICE.  Elementary school scholars will receive special incentives for practicing at home and meeting objectives.  

About Me:

Hello Bray Longhorns! 

This is the beginning of my 16th year as a music educator, and my 11th year in CHISD.  My first four years I was a middle school and high school band director, served as the elementary music teacher at Bray for eight years, and as orchestra director at Bray and Bessie Coleman for four years!   I'm excited to get to help Bray scholars continue on the Orchestra Pathway when they transition into middle school.   I can't wait to see their talents and abilities develop and mature, and I am grateful I can be there to provide continuity for their orchestral education in middle school and beyond.

On a personal note, I have been playing the french horn for over 20 years, and still play and teach professionally.  I also play the trumpet, piano, and lead worship at my church.  In my younger years, I was involved in the Symphony Orchestra at my high school, was a proud member of the incomparable Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, and was a member of the Meadows Symphony Orchestra at SMU.  While in college, I also learned to play the violin and clarinet.

My personal and professional philosophy is "Love Never Fails."  I believe that when teachers and scholars find what they are passionate about, then that love will carry them through to be successful in whatever they set out to do, even through the challenges.  Kids who are loved and find something at school that they love WON'T fail, and teachers who love kids and love their subject won't fail either. Love never gives up and never fails!  So love what you do, and do what you love!
