Parents must know: I LOOOOVE music! And I LOOOOOOOVE to teach. Put them together and you get an excited teacher ready to begin the school year. My class will be based on participation, meaning all students will be expected to try. Which will include singing, dancing, clapping to the beat, moving around the class room or hallway. I will expect our little musicians to manipulate simple hand drums, clickers/clackers, noise makers, and a few melodic instruments such as xylophone and ukulele. (older musicians) We will also use quaver to make original beats and songs.
About me:
Hello parents and students. My name is Steve Gowans and I will be your General music teacher here at Bray Elementary for the 2020-2021 school year. This will be my 2nd year at Bray, and my 18th year in education. I spent 16 years in DALLASisd teaching Band and General music. (Hulcy ms, Spruce HS, Skyline HS, Lang MS) I am the son of two teachers. My mother taught math at Skyline for over 25 years before she retired, and my father taught 3rd graders at B.F. Durrell before his retirement. So teaching has always been in my heart. I have been married to my wife Angela for 12 years and we have 2 children. My son Steven attends Permenter MS (CHISD) and enjoys playing football for the Cedar Hill team. My youngest son, Jaxson is also a Bray Longhorn. He enjoys jumping on the couch, jumping on daddy, and......just jumping in general.
Im my spare time i enjoy watching THE BEST FOOTBALL TEAM IN AMERICA....THE....DALLAS COWBOYS!!! I am (was) also quite an athlete in my younger days, holding my own on the baseball, soccer and football fields. Although my body may be a little older, the engine is still running. :-) I am also a trained audio engineer, so I love to produce and record music in my studio and in other studios around the city. And last but not least...I LOVE to BBQ!! During the quarantine, I was able to practice and I am working on my line of BBQ products, hopefully to hit stores in the future. I look forward to serving your students and we will have an exciting MUSICAL ADVENTURE!!
