Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Imari Cato
Hello, it's a great day to be a longhorn! I began my career in teaching and coaching in 1998 in Akron Ohio. My first real class that I was responsible for wasa a 10th grade group in New Orleans Louisiana, Jefferson Parish. I was young, green and full of excitement. However, those 10th graders must have seen somthing entirely different. I am not ashamed to say, that my class room management skills were not as sharp as they should have been. The result was a reevaluation period of my career choice. Nevertheless, I saw it through to the end becasue I always finish what I begin and other men had traversed the same steps that I was taking and survived as well. From inner city New Orleans, to inner city Akron, to suburban Desoto, to inner city Dallas to the charter known as "The Can" and finally Cedar Hill I have learned that teenagers are all the same. In all of my years, I honed my skills and craft and held multiple positions. From classroom teacher to administrator, to instructional coach and head Varsity basketball coach and eventually mentor. This is my third year in the district, but my 21st in education, and its been a whirlwind to say the least, but here I stand an English IV Master Teacher enthusiastic about this upcoming year and fortifying this communities young people with a few of the tools neccessary to get to the next stage of their lives.
