If I can stop one heart from breaking
I shall not live in vain.
If I can ease one life the aching
Or cool one pain or help one
Fainting robin unto his nest again
I shall not live in vain.
This starts year 6 as a LONGHORN: Year 1 (2015-2016) was AWESOME. Year 2 (2016-2017) was PRICELESS. Year 3 (2017-2018) was OFF THE CHAIN. Year 4 (2018-2019) was UNSPEAKABLE! Year 5 (2019-2020) was definitely UNBELIEVABLE! Year 6 (2020-2021) appears to require a "walk on water" FAITH! I bring to the district 37 years of serving scholars inside and outside the classroom. I strongly believe that teaching is one profession that has the power to either build or to destroy an individual. My main mission is to prepare them for life after graduation. As a LIFE-LONG educator, it is my responsibility to show our scholars the road that leads to opportunities, to equip them with tools needed for the journey, and to build them up as they begin their pursuit in discovering their purpose in life.
My experience spans from teaching General English, to Honors English, to Advanced Placement English (Language and Literature), to serving as the Administrator of Testing and the Director/Instructor of the Writing Program at Texas College (Tyler, TX). For four years, I served as a College Board National Reader for the AP Language Exam and currently a reader for Pearson SAT Essay. Instead of retiring, I followed my heart back to my first love - the HIGH SCHOOL. Once again, I have been given the awesome assignment of teaching AP Literature and Composition, and I am super elated to have been chosen as the DEBATE instructor for this year. I proudly serve as the chairperson of the BEST DEPARTMENT on campus: ENGLISH. Also I serve as the campus Head Huddle Coach of our Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). ONCE THE MIND IS TRANSFORMED, THE BODY WILL FOLLOW!!! Since we can't physically meet, please join us each morning at 7:00AM as we pause to lift up the entire Cedar Hill Longhorn Nation in prayer. Our normal huddle sessions are on Friday mornings at 7:30am in Hawkins Hall.
I AM...LONGHORN PROUD!
