How Weather-Related Decisions Are Made

When severe weather hits, the options are to 1) maintain normal school hours 2) delay or 3) cancel school. The decision is always made with student safety in mind. To make an informed decision, the CHISD leadership team participates in a conference call hosted by the National Weather Service. Along with neighboring school districts, the group discusses a regional plan.

The leadership team makes every effort to finalize a decision the night before weather is expected to impact roads. As circumstances unfold, communication is sent to parents and staff through phone callouts, email, our website and the district’s Twitter and  Facebook pages, and through local news media.
