Standardized Dress Code

2010-2011

SLACKS, PANTS and SKORTS

  • Color: Khaki or black solid single color
  • Style: Slacks and pants pleated or flat front docker-style full length; skorts to the knee or longer with or without loops fitted at waist
  • Pants with loops require a belt worn within the belt loops and appropriately fastened at the waist.
  • Oversized belt buckles are not allowed
  • No blue jeans or denims of any type or color
  • No CARGO PANTS
  • No sagging or oversized slacks, pants, or skorts
  • No clothing that reveals skin at midriff or undergarments
  • Corduroy material is allowed.

SHORTS and CAPRIS (Allowed only at PK-6)

  • Color: Khaki or black solid single color
  • Style: Pleated or flat front walking style short/capris, hem should be to the knee or longer with or without loops fitted at waist
  • Belts are required for shorts/capris with loops. The belt must be worn within the belt loops and should be appropriately fastened at the waist. For PK - 4 grades, belts are not required.
  • No blue jeans or denims of any type or color
  • Shorts and capris must have hem or cuffs
  • No CARGO SHORTS

SKIRTS AND JUMPERS

  • Color: Khaki or black solid single color
  • Style: Traditional styles to the knee or longer
  • No blue jeans or denims of any type or color
  • Corduroy material is allowed.

SHIRTS

  • Grades PK - 6: PULLOVER POLO STYLES SHIRTS with Buttons, BLOUSES, and TURTLENECKS
  • Grades 7 - 12:  PULLOVER POLO STYLES SHIRTS with Buttons and TURTLENECKS (no blouses)
  • Color: Cedar Hill red, white, or black solid single color
  • Style: Properly fitted long or short sleeve, solid colored collar required
  • STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO TUCK IN THEIR SHIRTS.
  • No blue jeans or denims of any type or color
  • No piping on collar or sleeves
  • Cedar Hill red, black or white T-shirts (undershirts) may be worn under shirts and MUST be tucked in and visible only at the neck.
  • No clothing that reveals skin at midriff or undergarments.
  • One inch logos are allowed.

LIGHTWEIGHT JACKETS, CARDIGANS, SWEATERS, and FLEECE SHIRTS

  • Color: Cedar Hill red, white, or black solid single color
  • Style: Must be properly fitted and worn over a collared shirt. Jackets can have hoods, but hoods cannot be worn in the building.
  • Cedar Hill ISD Academic and Varsity Letter Jackets are allowed.
  • No blue jeans or denims of any type or color
  • Outdoor coats - no restrictions for PreK-6 grades. Grades 7-12 cannot wear coat in the building.
  • Corduroy material is allowed.

FOOTWEAR

  • Athletic shoes, loafers, dress shoes (closed toes and heels, fastened or tied)

 

Parent and Student Responsibility:The parent and student shall be responsible for ensuring that the student is in compliance with all aspects of this policy when the student enters the school premises and during the time the student is on school premises during regular.

Principal is the final authority: The Board delegates to the building principal the authority to make final determinations as to whether clothing or grooming is/is not within this Code. The ruling of the building principal regarding compliance/non-compliance with this Code and corresponding consequences assigned for violation of this Code is final and may not be appealed to the superintendent or the Board.

Exclusions: This POLICY does not prohibit principals from allowing extracurricular group uniforms on days stipulated by the principal or special celebrations which involve dress such as "crazy hat day" or "50's day", etc. ARD makes exceptions for individual special needs students and the superintendent or designee makes decisions regarding all other requested exceptions.
