The Cedar Hill ISD offers an optional pay-to-ride bus transportation program for students who live less than two miles from their assigned school. The program is provided on a space available,first-come first-served basis. Parents interested in this option should consider the following Board approved guidelines:
The program is available only on existing bus routes as established by the Dallas County Schools Transportation Department. (For route information, go to "Bus Routes" link on the District website.) No additional routes will be considered for pay-to-ride purposes.
Eligible riders take precedence over pay-to-ride students. If eligible ridership rises, pay-to-ride students will be "bumped off" and given a pro-rated refund on a last-in, first out basis.
Pay-to-ride fees are as follows: (Fall 2007 semester):
$125 per semester for first child $100 per semester for second child $ 75 per semester for third child. No charge for additional children.
All payments must be made in advance on a per semester basis.
District will follow State guidelines for free and reduced lunch students. No pay-to-ride fee can be charged for these students according to Education Code 11.158 (f) .
No changes will be made in established bus routes and pick up points. Transportation will be provided only to schools receiving regular busing. No transfer busing will be allowed across attendance boundaries.

CHISD Staff will begin processing applications upon receipt and in the order they are received. Each application and payment will be kept on file until space availability is determined and the student is deemed eligible for a seat on the bus. Placements may not be made until September 10, 2007 and following. Parents will be notified shortly thereafter. Full refunds will be made on applications where no seats are available.
